Site
Behind the name- Well, I got the idea for oh-blarg when I was reading a book and the main character said “Blarg” a lot. I in turn adopted it as “my word” and when it came time to purchase a domain I though oh-blarg would be perfect!
Site history- Well, it alllll started back in 2005 I was in 6th grade and I overheard a classmate, in art, talking about freewebs. I had always wanted my own website (Previously to this I had made ones on Microsoft word). So I signed myself up! I made a personal one lizzi3434354 something and 1 Harry Potter site and one having to do with Guinea Pigs. I used default templates and had silly pages.
I then forgot about freewebs, meanwhile I discovered Iconator. I began to make icons! They were quite horrible at first but I got better then I was pretty good. Some users on the site had sites so I created a short lived site on geocities. It was made with some tacky photo editor that came with my ancient computer and featured “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”. During that time I abandoned icon making and wanted to make layouts after I stumbled upon the infamous Swimchick. I created another freewebs (http://www.takeourtears.co.nr) it was horribly tacky I had no clue how to code so I just stole a layout and I also stole coding and made very large celebrity layouts. Meanwhile I made signatures and avatars of whatever celeb my friend wanted because she was a part of roleplaying sites.
After a while I moved to my subdomain! (Traged.distortedsky.net CLOSED) I learned a lot here how to install scripts, use ftp, ect. A few months later in May ‘08 I decided I was ready for a domain! I then purchased oh-blarg.net from 1and1. When it first opened I wasn’t the best at coding at all! Since then I have grown and validated my coding got rid of celebrity images and more for a more professional site.
Oh-blarg is optimized for fast loading time on the latest version of Firefox (but it looks great in all the other browsers too!) and I use small images for faster loading time on account of my “Amish” (dial-up) internet.
